I grew up in Wallingford, CT. At the age of 13, I bought my first car, a 1940 Ford, two door sedan. I learned to drive on a dead end road and in the field on Beaumont's farm.
My second car vehicle was a 1934 Ford pickup truck. I chopped it with a hacksaw and welded it back up with an old buzz box my father let me use. I channeled that one too. When I turned 16 in 1958, I bought a 1949 Ford Crestliner Convertible with long fender skirts and a continental kit, lowered in the back. It was green and white in color.
In 1959, I joined the Army 101st Airborn. When I left, I sold my 49 and the 34 truck was sitting in the driveway. When I returned three years later, it was gone. I never knew what happened to that truck.
I married my wife in 1973 and we had four boys. My oldest son has sparked my interest in hot rods again. His first car was a 1967 Camaro RS/SS. He rebuilt it on his own and still has it.
My current ride is a 1933 Chevy 2 dr. sedan. It has a 1988 Corvette fuel injected motor with a T700R4 transmission. It also sports a Corvette rear. I built it in my garage with the help of my wife and four boys.
Current project is a 1940 Ford COE truck. I plan to chop the top and extend the cab. The motor will be moved rearward to the back of the cab. Well, that's the plan anyhow.
